Why would a reasonable (this point is, I suppose, debatable) person be so interested in toilets?

Well, here are a few reasons:

• Isn’t it a great hook for learning about Israel?
• Toilets unite us: We all have to deal with our waste. We always have and always will.
• By using toilets as a way to learn about our past, we are elevating the “profane”, and making something banal into a potentially meaningful encounter.
• It’s kind of funny, isn’t it?

So join me as I journey around Israel’s toilets and toilet-related ideas. It will be an adventure none of us will forget (maybe no matter how hard we try).
